چکیده

EMG signals are an image of the control from the central nervous system transmitted to muscles. Intramuscular EMG signals are collected directly in muscles. The collected data contain information on the neural control of the muscle. This information can be used for controlling external devices (myoelectric control), however realtime processing of intramuscular EMG signals is complex. The aim of this paper is to present a sequential method to estimate parameters which can lead to an active drive of an upper limb prosthesis. A system model will be presented and then an algorithm detailed. Results of the proposed algorithm applied to simulated and experimental data will be discussed.

Surface vs. Implanted Emg for Multifunctional Prosthesis Control: Pilot Results

It has been hypothesized that, due to the potential to both provide a larger number of independent control sites and selectively record from forearm muscles (in particular the deep muscles), intramuscular EMG should be advantageous for multifunctional prosthesis control [1]. The use of surface electromyograms (EMG) to control a multiple degree-of-freedom prosthesis has been investigated for sev...

Sequential Recognition of EMG Signals Applied to the Control of Bioprosthetic Hand – Experimental Comparative Analysis of Methods

The paper presents a concept of bio-prosthesis control via recognition of user intent on the basis of EMG signal analysis. The contextual (sequential) recognition is considered and the following methods of sequential classification are explored: Bayes approach with Markov model, multilayer perceptron, multiclassifier with competence function, classifier based on fuzzy logic and classifier based...

Lumped-parameter electromyogram-driven musculoskeletal hand model: A potential platform for real-time prosthesis control.

Simple, lumped-parameter musculoskeletal models may be more adaptable and practical for clinical real-time control applications, such as prosthesis control. In this study, we determined whether a lumped-parameter, EMG-driven musculoskeletal model with four muscles could predict wrist and metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint flexion/extension. Forearm EMG signals and joint kinematics were collected s...

Wrist torque estimation during simultaneous and continuously changing movements: surface vs. untargeted intramuscular EMG.

In this paper, the predictive capability of surface and untargeted intramuscular electromyography (EMG) was compared with respect to wrist-joint torque to quantify which type of measurement better represents joint torque during multiple degrees-of-freedom (DoF) movements for possible application in prosthetic control. Ten able-bodied subjects participated in the study. Surface and intramuscular...

Complexity Analysis of Surface EMG for Overcoming ECG Interference toward Proportional Myoelectric Control

Electromyographic (EMG) signals from muscles in the body torso are often contaminated by electrocardiography (ECG) interferences, which consequently compromise EMG intensity estimation. The ECG interference has become a barrier to proportional control of myoelectric prosthesis using a neural machine interface called targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR), which involves transferring the residual a...
